Richard Gregory is Emeritus Professor of Neuropsychology at the University of Bristol. He is an acknowledged expert on perception - how and why we see things the way we do. His work on optical and visual illusions brings added insight to the question of why our perception sometimes fails. Professor Gregory is known to most psychologists and neuroscientists as the editor of the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Mind, and as the author of numerous books and articles on the senses and the mind.
