Acoustic Triangle in Romsey Abbey

The question of how art makes its effects on our senses has always been a core subject for Art and Mind. In the Acoustic Triangle concert described below we have an example of artists not only working within their own sphere - music - but also reacting to the very shape of the building in which the music is to be performed. We are planning to explore this in future Art and Mind events which will be devoted to looking at the brain and the senses.

Malcolm Creese's cross-genre trio Acoustic Triangle teams up with the acclaimed Sacconi String Quartet and others to present anamazing three-dimensional performance in Romsey Abbey on Saturday 19th July at 7.30pm.

These world-class players are conducting a major tour of Cathedrals and Abbeys all around England this year. The interaction between the players and the building is unique. The music is re-choreographed for each performance, the building itself being treated almost like a member of the group.

The result is profoundly moving; compositions by group members Tim Garland and Gwilym Simcock will resonate around the glorious acoustics of Romsey's Norman Abbey.
